About Noah Miller
I am an expert in Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and Math, but equally important, I am adept at working with each individual student in a way that works best for them. I feel strongly that learning should not be a negative experience, so I am always friendly, positive, and non-judgmental with my students. My holistic approach to education takes into account the importance of social, emotional, and physical development to compliment academic success.
I discovered my passion for teaching and mentoring while working abroad in Central America and West Africa, doing development work in rural communities, and organizing college student volunteer trips. Every aspect of my two years abroad was rewarding, but I particularly enjoyed collaborating with bright students who were eager to learn and engage with the world around them. I have been tutoring professionally ever since I returned home to Palo Alto in 2019.
As a born and raised Palo Altan and Palo Alto High School graduate, I have an intimate understanding of the rigorous educational environment of the Bay Area Peninsula. I specialize in supporting high school students in the mid-Peninsula and I have extensive experience working with students at PALY, Gunn, MA, Woodside, Sacred Heart, Menlo, Serra, and more.
My role as a tutor is to help students achieve their academic goals and I equally enjoy working with students who are already doing well and looking to excel, and those who are struggling to keep up with challenging classes. STEM subjects often feel overwhelming to students, and it's easy to understand why - there is so much to learn and it is complicated stuff! I strive to break down complicated ideas into simpler ones and help students organize the many details which are necessary to keep track of to be successful in the sciences. My favorite part of being a tutor is seeing students engage with the material and have exciting "ah-ha!" learning moments.
Outside of tutoring, I enjoy bicycling in the Santa Cruz Mountains, learning languages, and Sunday crossword puzzles.

I also guide students in the development of new learning techniques and study skills. “Noah has helped us through 3 years of High school and I'm extremely grateful for his help in getting our son the support and encouragement he needed to complete his assignments and stay on top of his work. We all felt that we couldn't have done it without him! Noah has been flexible with changes, even last minute, professional, and very communicative. We can't recommend him highly enough!”
